PRE-SURVEY ESSENTIALS

It is important that any vessel be prepared and presented to its best advantage during survey. This not only makes certain the survey can be performed easily and efficiently, but also will help to avoid omissions of important items and wasting time. These important things are often forgotten:

Engine

• Batteries should be fully charged

and connections clean and secure.

• All systems and instruments

should be connected.

• Machinery should be ready to

be run and tested.

• All gear (including sails)

should be accessible.

• Things not applicable to the

survey should be removed.

• Any paperwork pertaining to recent work performed on the boat, Yacht Documentation, manuals, broker’s listings and manufacturer’s specifications (where appropriate) should be on hand.

• Make certain that you have confirmed your appointment for the survey by email.

You are always encouraged to be present during the inspection. The surveyor will be able to help you to understand the findings and recommendations contained in your report and it will give a better understanding of the vessel first hand.
